Since the release of Enterprise Planning & Budgeting (EPB) and then Oracle’s acquisition of Hyperion many business have been wondering what migration (if any) should take place with their Oracle Financial Analyzer (OFA) systems.

Oracle has issued a de-support notice (Note:365197.1) for OFA so businesses should be beginning to look at possible migration even if in the short term they chose to do nothing while they assess the situation. Error Correction Support ends at the end of 2009 with Extended Support finishing at the end of 2010. What will happen on 1 st January 2011? Will your OFA system still work? It is likely that OFA will operate as normal, but consideration must also be made to the Operating System and the vendor’s support of this.

Oracle recently announced that the Hyperion modules are the Performance Management Applications Strategic Products for the future.

The migration path for OFA will now be Hyperion Planning, but as you can see from the table above there are many options available to meet either existing or future business requirements. Hyperion is an established technology with many reference sites and over the coming months we will look into each of the Business Domains above and look at the key differences between OFA and Hyperion.
